Owning Pink's Pink Posse

Sweet October,

Thank you for arriving. I had enough of September and all the trouble she brought my way. A fire that threatened to trap me inside, claiming my home and most of my belongings with smoke, and then I lost my dear sweet dog and a romantic relationship as well. A sad, sad month.

Now you've arrived and I'm so glad to see you, old friend. You are my favorite month because you bring the start of my very favorite season - holiday time. On Halloween two of my very good friends will be getting married and I'll be celebrating with them as a beautiful and joyous way to kick off these last few months of the year.

Even better, you'll bring a visit from my sister, my very best friend, along with my brother-in-law, and toddling niece who is one of the greatest joys of my life. We'll go up to see the rest of my family where we can pick apples and pumpkins and run through corn mazes together. We'll laugh together and play together and cook together. It's a vacation I need so much as this heart of mine sets about healing itself and my soul takes a much needed break from the events of September.

And let's not forget the vibrant, bold colors you decorate all of the trees with. Soon I'll be jogging underneath a great umbrella of gold and orange and red, thankful for the cool breezes that rustle the leaves and clear my head. My mind is weary and it needs to see nothing but beauty to right itself again.

Taking inspiration from your expert paint palette, I begin this month at the very bottom of my own blank canvas. I imagine that I'm very small and the canvas is very big. I'm looking up at it, holding my paint brush with so many gorgeous colors to choose from. I'll dab a little here, and dab a little there, only the colors that make me happiest, painting only the things that make my heart sing. October, you will witness someone shining through the sadness and disappointment and frustration and loss. Someone rejuvenated and smiling. And that someone will be me.

Thank you for coming to my rescue. Thank you for welcoming me in with a warm hug and a kind and understanding ear. Thank you for letting me lay down my troubles at your feet and walk on through your days to live my best life yet. I promise I'll repay you with a painting more magnificent than anything I ever thought these two small hands of mine could make.

Christa,

October is also my favorite month and bears my birthday so it is extra special to me. I love the way you wrote this as a letter to October. I see that you are moving forward from the stormy seas of September to the blank canvas of October that you can paint a new life full of mirth, pleasure, and creativity upon. It certainly seems that September was a rough go for so many. In fact, many have been deeply challenged by this present year.

For me, October always represents the beginning of a new cycle. I can feel the potential germinating at this time of year. I wish for the promise of new growth, potential, and happiness to grow full, juicy, and ripe for you this month. Many blessings to you!

Thanks Megan! I can definitely feel the virtual hugs!! Thank goodness Fall has arrived - I need this season of renewal. It's funny, a lot of tough things always happen to me during the Fall and it's still my favorite season. I guess it's good that the tough stuff happens in a season I love so much because it makes those circumstances easier to bear.

I've also been so so touched by the strength and courage you've shown us all through your posts. I've been reading them over and over as a source of inspiration and they've made me feel less lonely.

xoxo,
C

Beautiful letter Christa. I too am excited for October. I want to acknowledge you for your bravery. I can only imagine how difficult all of those things in September were for you. It takes great strength and courage to move forward and start with a blank canvas. If you were here, I would give you a big bear hug and probably cry, because that's what I do in the presence of greatness. Thank you so much for being courageous and bringing us all present to beauty of the Fall Season.
Love you,
Megan

Christa, you have just inspired next week's Mojo Monday exercise. Why don't we all write letters to October? Thank you for the inspiration. We'll post about it on OP on Monday. You rock, sister!

Hi Michele,
My favorite season, too!! I always feel like I am being re-born during this time of year - ironic since for so many living things, this is the end of their life cycle. This morning as I stepped outside, I breathed deeply and just knew that my life was beginning again, fresh and clean. It feels a little empty, though with that emptiness, I get the chance to start again, a completely clean slate that I can design to be anything I want it to be. Though a little sad and a little lonely right now, I am working to see this new start as a great blessing for which I will so grateful in the days ahead.

Thanks so much for your love and support!!!

xoxo,

Christa, This was such a beautiful posting! Fall is my very favorite season. I always sense excitement in the air this time of year. That first cool snap, anticipation of the relaxed fall holidays, the yummy comfort foods I love to prepare and enjoy with family and friends, the abundant fall festivals, campfires, football (a family tradition), wearing a cozy sweater for the first time of the year, turning off the air conditioner and opening up the windows to smell freshness, renewal, excitement, falling leaves.

I pray that you will have much renewal and healing this autum. You have been through so much, sweetie! Shed your old leaves, prepare to hibernate this winter, and then blossom with abundant blessings in the spring.

Much Love and Pinkie Peace
~Michele~

Hi Lissa! Oh my goodness! Your story certainly gives me such great hope. All of your stories do. To see that you've been through such tough times and emerged as this amazing, strong, incredible woman. What a wonderful person you to look to for guidance and strength. And this community has been amazing as I've been trudging through this storm. Welcome October - I hope it's a fantastic month for all of us. :)

And thank you so much for the compliment on my writing. That means so much to me.

Love and hugs,
Christa
