What do we do when our mothers are gone?

Mothers's Day was neverspecial, until now. This year is the first without Mom.My husband said, "We have no mothers," and though our relationships with them were far from perfect, we gazed in dumbstruck wonder at this incomprehensible reality.Wanting to write a Mother's Day tribute, I watched videos of her, and felt a vice close around my heart. I stared at the screen, hands heavy and…See More

The Doctors TV show promotes breast self-exam device

In the wake of the new breast cancer screening recommendations by the US Preventive Task Force people have expressed confusion and outrage. The popular TV show addressed the issue on 12/3 and invited an oncologist to demonstrate self-exam using the Plexus Pink Breast Chek Kit.I have not wavered in my support of women knowing their bodies, especially their breasts. Elective mastectomy—what I wish my doctor had told me.

The diagnosis of breast cancer brings with it an avalanche of decisions, and one of the most difficult is whether or not to remove the unaffected breast. Our hope is that getting rid of the breast will protect us from recurrence, and with advancements in reconstruction, we can look forward to perky, cancer-free breasts. Good as new.

Right?

Not really.

No one cautioned me about the impact of nipple amputation on my sex life. No one even mentioned sexual function… Continue

A bit about why I am here

Three Christmases ago I learned I had breast cancer for the second time, and for the second time my life was spared because of early detection. Even though I lost both breasts and endured 18 months of hell, I emerged healthier in body and spirit, and now I gladly devote myself to supporting people whose lives have been touched my breast cancer. I love to hear from women all over the continent who are facing or recovering from some stage of treatment. I am particularly interested in… Continue

Hi Jamie,
How nice of you to stop by and comment on my site's name!
When I first conceived of the idea of offering a distance healing service it was clear to me that "trust" would have to be an integral part of the relationship between myself and the Reiki recipient.
It is so clear to me now that "trust" needs to become a healthy daily habit!

I have been knee deep working on a wellness site. Thanks for giving me the nudge to take a break!
I'll check out your profile real soon.
It has been such an honor to meet you.
