Welcome Pinkies!

I've created this group in an effort to create a cyber-platform for all the poets/writers that Own Pink. Please share all your original prose and writing with this group, and provide feedback to fellow pinkies on their work. If you're having writer's block, share some of your favorite poems from other poets (please credit the authors)/ lyrics to songs you love (please reference artists). Let's own pink through art! Empower your pen!

Write here, Write now.

Peace,
M

Actors struggle to concentrate through the relentless bongo beat hammering through the stone walls of the Waterfront Playhouse
Maggie the Cat puts hand to forhead, declaiming: I can’t believe this will keep going on.
Our city’s once and future famous actress’s not-so-famous but oh-so-talented mother threatens to call the police but keeps Cat on a Hot Tin Roof rehearsal rolling:
You’re doing absolutely GREAT...that’s the look I’ve been LUSTING after...that walk across the stage was BEAUTIFUL do it like that EVERY TIME...
Rain! Rain adds to the commotion! Rain will shut up the bongoes...it does!
And the rehersal takes off, approaching opera level, as Tennessee Williams life reflects in his art reflecting right back atcha there on the stage in his favorite home town, Key West, the place he said he wrote best.
But the magic is tragic it’s cut by laughter and shouting outside so loud it sounds miked.
Tourist towns and historic buildings have their disadvantages.

But then something on stage CLICKS, as Brick would say, when his alcohol level reached a certain BAL -- I know that well, Tenn and I have that in common--and it’s light miles beyond the paltry 0.08 allowed by the highway patrol. Because light years are measures of distance, not time, but really, what’s the difference?
He’s not here in time but he is here in space, oh yes, not as recognizable as
the Old Man and the Sea with the Beard and the Lookalike contest and boxing gloves and the many-toed cats and urinal fountain and the bloody shocking final exit.

Who’s the drama queen here? Who the tough guy? Who made it to 70 writing all the way, a disciplined man, Tennessee was, we don’t have that in common, yet, but I aspire.

And when the thing on stage clicks, no outside noise can penetrate the magic
of the words of Tennesse Williams. No longer a rehearsal, but a snippet of something purer, impertubable: a playwright’s vision in the hands of folks who Get It:
Magie the Cat throws her hands in the air and shouts:
Thank-you, Tennessee Williams!
There are seperate gods for theatre. A famous broadway actress said:
A dead mule could play Seraphina (another tortured female in Tenn’s Dakini Den of female energy) and win a Tony, but I don’t know...

Theatre is never any one person’s game but community property
Please don’t shoot me for saying “community” and “theater” on the same line in Key West.

Movies will never do it. Videos will never kill it. If I can I will channel Tenn (on channel 10? who knows? I won’t have a TV in my home)--you can see us live in Key West on a noisy rainy magical afternoon soon, in lightyears, that is...

En avant!

I just posted a poem and thought it was going on this site but I guess it went on the main site. Sorry! I'm still learning the ins and outs of this site.
Anyways the poem is on the main posse blogs.

Have you ever listened to a song and simultaneously felt elated and like you got sucker punched in the gut? I found that song. I can't quit listening to it even though it makes me tear up every time. Actually, in all seriousness I am very grateful to have found it because it's making me dredge up the emotions surrounding the experience/person it reminds me of, and hopefully I'll deal with them and not stuff them back down again. Oh, the song is "Gravity" by Sara Bareilles. Beautiful.

Great idea for a group, thanks Marina! I used to write all the time but haven't since I had kids. I keep meaning to start up again, hopefully I can dig up my old poems and read some on here to motivate myself to start up again.

I'm sorry, I don't think I posted where I was suppose to. Or do we post in comments? Thanks!
