It has been quite a while since I've checked in.  Uh...November 18th?  I did not make any resolutions regarding weight loss.  I merely re-committed myself to continuing my journey and paying attention to the choices I make.  Oddly, I tend to lose weight during the holiday season.  Perhaps it is because I'm focused on not gaining weight.  I dunno.  In any case, I continue attending Zumba classes two evenings per week and today I completed my first day, week1, of C25K (Couch to 5k).  It takes an interval approach; warm up for 5 minutes, alternate 1 minute of jogging with 1.5 minutes of walking for 20 minutes and then a 5 minute cool down.  Each week consists of three workouts.  I have always found interval training quite challenging, but I did it and the iPhone App for the program allows a little accountability with integrated Twitter and Facebook posting....so if you follow me and don't see those updates slap me upside the head (gently please).  :)   Tomorrow is Zumba night!  Yay!  2011 IS going to be a great year!

How are you all doing?

Yesterday: Yoga
Today: Bike ride (that just about killed me) and yoga.

Doing the work on the eCourse I am creating is really opening my eyes and allowing me to connect with my body in a whole new way. I love it.

Before I go (but perhaps I can stay if anyone wants to ask me questions), I wanted to mention that my book The Journey of the Slim Soul, a holistic approach to slimming, is now available worldwide (it used to be only the UK) through lulu.com and I am doing a 15% discount on it until 1st December. The link to buy the book is here: http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/journey-of-the-slim-soul-%28i...

The Journey of the Slim Soul is the only book and method (there is now an eight week programme that helps you change the way you think) that caters for the mind the body and the soul at the same time so that it is a permanent change in attitude to food and to the body. It's fun, it's inspiring and I wrote it (I am getting so cheeky here, forgive me)...

I am also about to offer a Journey of the Slim Soul certified Coach programme for those of you who are therapist and who would like to obtain a specialism in holistic slimming. It will be reasonably priced because I am not in this for the money (although I have three and a half children to feed). The training will be a little over two months so it's a great chance to train for the Spring when most people become interested in slimming. All Coaches have to run through the 8 week programme themselves, which includes a three week detox.

On another front I am also launching a seven week teleclass called the 7 Golden Rules of Slimming which is to take place Monday nights at 6 pm (UK time) and which will be offered at half price for only 35 British pounds. To check conversion rates, check www.XE.com.

If you are interested in any of the above, just send me a message.

Have a great week-end everyone.

With love to all of you and the best on your journey

I haven't visited here in quite a while and have really missed it. I think what has brought me back was something that happened today. I went to the doctor for a check up on these allergies, he had done a blood work panel to check for infection. All was clear, except my cholesterol. It is in an unhealthy range, therefor making my liver chemistry slightly elevated.

Well all I can say is this scared the hell out of me. Turns out, at work several of us were starting our own Biggest Loser challenge. The fee to enter is $50 and the winner at the end of the time we set wins the pot.

I was going to opt out because after a week and a half I hadn't focused on it. Well a dear friend at work asked me to stay in, I told her I would think about it and then BOOM the doctor's results.

Suffice to say, I am in......I have taken my friends words of encouragement to heart when she asked me not to quit the challenge, then the results. We are all supporting each other at work and I couldn't be more grateful for the group support.

I just wanted to share where I was at. I will be checking in here regularly with my progress. I may include some meals I ate. Just letting you know.
Thanks for letting me get this out.

Blessings

Thanks ladies! Yes, it is true. I do feel much better for having taken my Zumba class. I'm fortunate to have found a delightful instructor who keeps it fresh and fun. I've made it such a habit that when I can't or don't go I feel crappy--that's a good sign I think. So, absolutely, the FEELING is there.

Have a beautiful day!!

Syda- thanks for the acknowledgment! Whether you have lost weight or not, you have to admit (if it is true) that you feel better for doing Zumba. The measurements would most likely show your efforts- but we can still celebrate with out the numbers so long as the FEELING is there. :)

Megan - Yay! I can't recall where I got it from, but on my schedule/to do list, I have for years listed "exercise", or "movement" as Celebrate Myself because moving my body, whether walking, washing the car, doing laundry, shooting baskets with my daughter, working in the garden, or....er, exercising was in fact celebrating my body and all that it does for me. I, myself, have always thought of self-care as relaxing, pleasurable activities....like bubble baths; and choices that support my overall health...like moving my body and feeding it nourishing food. Losing weight was a benefit of self-care but not self-care itself. The challenge for me has been believing that I am worthy enough and making it a priority over the care of others.

Love! Love! Now get the heck out of here and Celebrate Yourself!

As for me....I haven't lost any more weight. I'm hovering around 168.4lbs. However, I have been sticking with the Zumba classes at least twice a week and this past week I noticed something different. My inner thighs are touching, but not rubbing as I walk and when I do shoulder circles during the cool down, my arms are not hitting my sides. So while the scale is not reflecting any changes, my body is and I'm happy about that. If only I'd taken m' measurements. :)

Self-care has been a BIG topic for me during this phase of my coaching certification and I had a break through with my internal conversation recently that I wanted to share with you all.

My under lying belief for self-care was that it meant losing weight. I didn't realize that I have been living like these were one in the same, when in reality they are VERY different. And since I am not crazy about the word self-care, I am going to call it celebrating myself. So now, everyday I make time to celebrate myself.

I also made up this Love Yourself Jar to help with the celebrating. :)
